總統府發言人陳以信表示，馬英九總統將於明天前往太平島，此行也邀請總統當選人蔡英文派員參加。陳以信：『(原音) 馬英九總統將於天候狀況許可的前提下，於明(28)日前往我國南沙太平島訪視並慰勞駐島人員。外交部已將此規劃正式通知相關友邦，總統府曾永權秘書長並已致電民進黨，代表馬總統邀請總統當選人民進黨蔡英文主席派員參加。』
